Arkansas Week 8
Hey everyone! It's been another great week here in Arkansas👍 Although, its kinda creepy out when they test the tornado sirens every week. They're super loud & they make me feel like a character in a horror movie, like A Quiet Place or something (... which is a horrible movie btw). I think tornado season is coming up soon too, so that's cool.
We reached our goal of finding three new people this week! One of them is a student named Alex. He came & started talking to us at our booth on campus. He was super interested & wants to come to our bible study we do on Wednesday nights. It was also really cute & funny when he said, "My best friend is mormon. He's on one of those trips where you give up your phone for two years"...while Sister Miller was handing him her phone to put his number in. Good times.
We still volunteer at the animal shelter for 10 hours a week & I love it! This week, we helped give a few of the dogs a bath. One of them was huge & NOT having it. I had to wrap my arms around him in order to keep him in the tub. By then, I was halfway in the tub myself & soaking wet, I pretty much got a bath too😂 Chris, the volunteer coordinator, is the sweetest lady. She loves our help & we've become good friends with her too. On Saturday, she said to us, "I think of you two as my granddaughters."😭 My favorite part about missionary work is making other people happy & I love making Chris happy by serving her every week. It's also a tender mercy to have someone care about me like that while I'm away from home.
Panpan is doing super good! We taught him & committed him to keep the Word of Wisdom! He told us that, along with everything else, he won't drink milk because it makes him uncomfortable😂 You do you, Panpan. Ready for another awesome Panpan insight?! He knows Sister Miller & I both come from places with snow, so he said, "If you don't clear your own driveways, you aren't going to clear your neighbors." He understood that we have the Word of Wisdom so we can take care of ourselves & if we dont do that, we can't take care of others. Isn't he the best? He also came to church yesterday!! Woohoo!!
I got to meet & shake hands with Elder Lynn G. Robbins yesterday, He came to our old, cute little institute building & spoke at our sacrament meeting & taught our Sunday school class. It was super cool! He talked a lot about being resilient during our hard times in life. He said, "A crisis doesn't develop your character, it reveals it." When times get tough, are we going to be quitters? Or are we going to have faith in Christ & turn to Him to help us? If we put our trust in our Savior, He can give us strength to keep going. I've seen it on my mission & I know it's true!
This might be the longest email I've sent so far... so sorry. Thanks to everyone who continues to email me & thanks for all your love & support, it means the world to me! Love & miss y'all!❤
