"You're in Arkansas Sweetheart!" Week 3

Hi everyone! The subject line is something my comp so lovingly said to me when a member wanted to take us out to eat at some catfish restaurant. If you know me, you know I don't do fish very well or anything weird. So luckily, that did not end up happening because I was not prepared for that so soon.

Every Monday night, we have family home evening with our ward. Last Monday, we played laser tag at our institute building. I guess there's a couple in our stake who has collected nerf laser tag guns over the years just for fun (If that's not couple goals then I dont know what is) and they let people use them for activities. Well, let me tell you, playing laser tag when you have to stay within sight and sound of another person is not so fun😂 That's okay though.

I went on my first exchanges this week! It was a very last minute decision, I wasn't expecting it, and I was not mentally prepared for it haha. However it turned out to be great. I was in Prairie Grove with Sister Rosenburg. Prairie Grove is more of what I thought Arkansas would be like haha. It's a small town, lots of farmland, and everyone has a southern accent. We helped an older women move along with some other members of the ward. Some of the relief society sisters took us out for dinner after, which does not happen in YSA. We had a couple lessons too, which was great because in YSA people tend to cancel on us often. To end the exchange, we met at this cute little bakery that looks like a place right out of Fantasyland.

We had our second lesson with Richard this week. He's one of the few who usually doesn't cancel on us. We answered a lot of his questions about polygamy, blacks and the priesthood, Brigham young, etc. He told us he wants to get all of his questions and doubts out of the way before we actually start teaching him the lessons. While we're happy to answer any questions he has, we know that in order to progress, he needs to have faith. Elder Uctdorfs said, "doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith." We can't let our doubts keep us from drawing closer to our Savior. When we have faith in Christ, we can be filled with hope and peace.

I hope everyone has a great week! Love and miss y'all!
Sister Emery Collins
