Arkansas Week 4
Hey everyone! I hope you had a great week! Mine was super long, but so many cool things happened!
I went on exchanges again, back to Prairie Grove with Sister Flinders this time. She's actually from the Navoo Temple Mission, but they get sent to surrounding missions for a few months to experience teaching and prostelyting. Kinda cool. Funny story from being on exchanges with her. She noticed before going to bed one night, that her phone clock was way off, but she didn't change it. Well, her alarm went off at 6:30am, according to her phone. It was actually only 2:30am, but she had gotten up, studied, and ate breakfast before she realized she didn't need to be awake yet😂 Who needs sleep as a missionary, right?
We met with Richard again this week. He is the best and is progressing so quick! We taught him the restoration and had him teach it back to us like we were five year olds (I thought of Michael from The Office, but that's just me). The spirit was so strong when he did! We asked him to say the closing prayer too. It melted my heart. He said he's felt closer to God now then ever in his life. He thanked God for bringing us to him so he could find hope and belonging. Its things like that that make missionary work so worth it! He also bought us super nice comforters from Bed, Bath & Beyond just because. That also makes it worth it😉 Kidding.
We finally got to meet with Panpan this week! We had a lesson planned, but he ended up teaching us, the Elders, and a member from our ward Chinese for a LONG time. He taught us how to say our first names and what they mean. Mine means love, rice, and good luck snow haha. It was super fun. Sister Miller and I were worried about not getting to teach him, but we now know we didn't have to be. We asked him to say a closing prayer before we left. He prayed for us to someday be able to use what he taught us to bring Christ to his people in China. It was the sweetest prayer. Letting him teach us made him so happy. Sometimes all it takes is to show that you care about people, and they'll be filled with the light of Christ. It's so amazing to see.
I hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day full of love. Love and miss you all!
Sister Emery Collins
